Born and raised in Wetzel County, West Virginia, Gabi Cooper has been considered a small town, artsy girl for most of her life. After graduating from Fairmont State University in 2017, she settled in as a high school art teacher in the mountain state. While cultivating her own creative practices as a mixed media artist, she has steadily entered back into artmaking. She enjoys making twirls and nods to all aspects of Appalachian grannies, industry, and simple yet spectacular details hidden within the hills she calls home. Along with fostering community connections, communication, and engagement through visual imagery and themes, she focuses on the magic in mundane Appalachia with hopes of visually sewing in nostalgia.
