Jessie McClanahan is an interdisciplinary artist with a pension for traditional Appalachian folk and craft arts hailing from Southern West Virginia. Through an Appalachian lens she interrogates the relationships we have to the environment, ourselves, and other organisms. Her practice has become communal, integrating fungi to create collaborative conversations about the horizontal dialogues happening between geography, culture, and economy. McClanahan is currently an MFA candidate at Syracuse University with a BA from West Virginia State University.
