Katie Kay Chelena (she/her) is a theater artist, poet, and educator from the mountains of North Carolina and based in Brooklyn, NY. She is an alumni member of the New York Neo-Futurists (The Infinite Wrench, Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind). Her plays, performances, and poems have stomped around the Kraine Theater, the Brick, the Tank, the New Ohio, House of YES, Virgin Voyages, the Queens Museum, Caveat, basements, living rooms, bars, and more. Her work invites you to rage, kiss, cry, and riot. In her educational work, she is the head of theater at North Carolina Governor’s School West, and has taught experimental theater, slam poetry, and socially engaged artmaking through BAM, Pace University, the Brooklyn Public Library, and more. She holds an MA in Arts Politics from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a BA in Dramatic Art from UNC Chapel Hill, but has learned as much or more from friends, comrades, and the dance floor. www.KatieKayChelena.com
