Lakin Fain (She/her) is a painter from Kentucky. She is studying environmental design, Architecture and Fine Art at the University of Colorado. Within Colorado’s design program, she conducts research on the functional heritage design of coal mining towns in Appalachia. In her painting practice, she explores the unassuming interaction between tradition and contemporary ideals. This usually manifests as portraying the elderly in an eccentric, playful, and youthful way. She often takes inspiration from the traditionalism throughout Appalachia, along with the vibrancy of Appalachian culture.
