Liz Monsma (she/her) is a visual artist based in West Virginia’s eastern panhandle. She is a recent graduate of Shepherd University with a BFA in painting. Since childhood, she has drawn creative inspiration from the darker side of consumer culture and its materialistic allure. Her work explores a world of childlike delight in bright colors that often mask darker themes of insecurity, violence, and mental illness. Through the medium of acrylic paint, she describes the vibrancy of the consumerist market as well as its decay.
