Southern Appalachia native, Misty Dempsey, is a self taught artist of over twenty years, working in a variety of media, including graphic design, paint on canvas, jewelry design, collage and textile art. She graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in mass communications. Further coursework in biology has served as a foundation for her current painting/drawing style that is inspired by the flow of energy throughout nature and the cosmos. Pattern and movement, indicative of the natural world, are evident in her ongoing series of intuitive works on paper. She has created marketing designs for several local food, farm, and non-profit organizations around her hometown in Green County, TN.
