Steve Hughart is a sculptor from Southern West Virginia. He holds a BFA from Marshall University with an emphasis in Sculpture and an MFA in Metalsmithing from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Although the majority of his work is created with steel, he has an extensive background working with many different types of mixed-media including wood, stone carving, and ceramics. Steve’s works, from figurative to abstract, have been showcased in numerous galleries across the United States. This series of his work expresses emotionally triggered content based on real-life experiences and interactions with the opioid epidemic that plagues much of the country.
Currently, Steve has a home business, Blacksnake Blacksmithing and Art Studio LLC, based in Barboursville, WV, and has recently expanded to Fort Myers, FL, working at Florida Gulf Coast University as the Laboratory Coordinator for the Art Department and Adjunct Sculpture Professor.
