Emily Nestor is a photographer from Parkersburg, WV. She shoots documentary-style on 35mm film exclusively utilizing two Pentax cameras. She aims to authentically capture what life in West Virginia looks like, without the exploitative undertones too often latched onto media associated with the region. This small collection of photos is part of a long term project seeking to capture a more accurate portrayal of her fellow mountaineers and the land they love, after becoming exasperated by distasteful responses to the phrase: “I’m from West Virginia.”
